Waste of money 1st level doesnt work

Cant hear anything

My students (even those who HATE to read) absolutely love this app!!!

My child was desperate to read. The school just wasnt teaching it yet. I started with starfall and wallykazam apps. My child developed the reading readiness skills from these apps. I paid for Hooked on Phonics and did one lesson per day or every other day. It is excellent. My child reads now. I believe these three apps did it all. This app gave my child confidence and an enjoyment for reading.

This is a great way to introduce reading. I am using this with my pre-kindergartener and it has been a nice and easy way to ease into it.

Wondering if this app is good for a 3rd grader. I moved my son to private school where I learned he was struggling to read. Had him tested and found out he was never taught phonics in school!!! I want to purchase full app but need to know if its too babyish or would it help?

I usually watch my son while hes using this app. I stepped away for a moment while he was putting 3 letter words together such as P AN, well those were the letters visible, however, the voice-over was saying AM instead of AN. I freaked out! I wonder how many times this has happened when I have stepped away? This is VERY disturbing and, clearly, detrimental to my son learning how to read!!! This glitch MUST be fixed immediately. My son loves the app and I know it could be an amazing tool, but holy cow!!!

Paid for subscription, but the app doesnt appear to recognize this. Ill contact customer service, but even if they fix the issue its been a pain. They spend far too many resources making slick musical productions teaching the sounds of the letters which are if questionable value. Meanwhile what should be the meat of the app, the exercises, are very limited.

I am very happy. I learned to read using Hooked on Phonics 25 years ago. I was reading chapter books by the time I started 1st grade. I was looking for a hard copy of it for my 3 year old son. We had tried ABCMouse and he just wasnt into it. I found this and I cant get him to stop now. He is so engaged in the games and stories.

Be aware that this "free" app only lets your child play 1level before it requires you to spend at least $39.99 to continue.

I paid full price for full access, and it was fine while it lasted, but now have no audio on the iPad app! This must be fixed immediately. I have tried reinstalling from scratch to no avail as well. Other reading apps work just fine. Dont waste your money on this until they fix it.

Bought originally on iphone, trying to get it working on ipad, no luck. Over and over and over, try to log in, doesnt work. They spent too much time on flashy stuff and not enough on the basics. Look elsewhere, dont buy this.

Im a believer in HOP. I worked through the K and 1st grade programs (the DVDs with workbooks) with my oldest 3 boys before they went to Kinder. It really helped them have a firm reading base before going to school. Now, Im teaching my 4th boy to read. We started the DVDs and workbooks for the Kinder level. We worked through the first 10 lessons and restarted and restarted a second time. He hated it and whined every time it was reading time. I tried incentives and other tricks. I didnt want to rebuy the program in app version, but I totally did and am glad that I did! Its night and day. He loves the "game" aspect of reading and is actually making progress. I had to cut him off today after doing 5 lessons.

Just paid $50 for the subscription, and there is no sound...not happy. Update: works on iPhone 6s Plus, but not iPad 3. Both are up to date. App needs an update.

Progress resets constantly. Frustrating for kids!

I installed and had the same issue with sound as everyone else. Called customer support and apparently the fix is to make sure youre phone isnt muted

We found free application PHONICS from iTunes App Store to learn how to read for kids. Our girls, age 4 and 6, love it and enjoy making steady progress reading. This is a great app but I can only download unit 1and the books I have purchases all the others but am not able to download them

This is the best phonics app out there. I have been trying to teach my kid how to read but she was having a very hard grasping the phonics concept. I downloaded this app maybe the 15th phonics app from the App Store and I was surprised how easy the app made learning for my kid I really like the part where they ask the kid to join the words by sliding the alphabet that really helped my kid. Im really Happy and proud that my kid can read now. Great app guys. Keep up the good work
